Does Secret Software Exist?

By Jimmy Krug.

Question: Are there any “must have” secret “software” programs that have helped you or given you an edge over your particular competition?

Answer: It all depends upon the particular job at hand.  When it comes to creating web sites and web pages… using a template is always easier than starting from scratch.

Sales letter templates, web site templates, opt-in templates, I have and continue to use them all.  I even sell a few that I’ve made.

When it comes to creating an eBook cover, you can use Photoshop or a similar type of program.  For writing and editing I prefer Word.

In my opinion, the one thing that will give you the greatest edge over your competition is YOU.  By YOU, I mean – your personality.  If you will allow people to see a real human being behind each and every one of your business activities and pursuits, you can accomplish more than you probably realize.

The old saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know,” couldn’t be more accurate.  That goes for the online world as well.  In the business world, it’s all about building relationships with other people.  In short, people do business with people they like.  The buy products from people they like.  They purchase services from people they like.

When people like you, they’ll often choose you over the competition because you “infuse” your products with your own unique soul and character.

That’s how politics work.  That’s how leaders are grown.  That’s how the world works whether we like it or not.  Most sites out there today in any given niche;

1. Look alike (similar graphics and colors)

2. Sound alike (I charge many of my clients $500 an hour)

3. Produce similar results (more information you can’t use today in the – here and now)

I’m not saying don’t use someone else’s opt-in box.  Or don’t use a template.  I love templates and am using them more and more.  What I’m saying is, when all is said and done, are you connecting with people or are you just a price point and conversion person?

The latter outnumbers the former today at least 50 to 1.
